The Early Days

Let’s rewind a bit. Back in 2019, I welcomed my first baby into the world while simultaneously diving headfirst into the world of online course creation. It was a whirlwind of emotions and challenges as I navigated motherhood and entrepreneurship simultaneously.

During those early days, I was determined to extend my time at home with my little one while still growing my business. It wasn’t easy—I found myself hustling during nap times, nursing breaks, and any spare moment I could find. Looking back, I’m grateful for that time, but I knew I wanted a different experience for my second maternity leave.

This time around, I wanted to approach things differently—to be more intentional and prepared. So, with my due date approaching, I sat down with my team to strategize and planned for my 12 week maternity leave.

Prepping for Maternity Leave

Here are the five key strategies my team and I implemented to ensure a seamless transition into maternity leave while maintaining the momentum of my business:

  • Strategic Planning: We mapped out our launches and marketing activities for the entire year, making sure to schedule everything around my maternity leave. This way, we could maintain momentum without skipping a beat.
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): We created Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for every aspect of our business. From customer service emails to community management, we documented it all to ensure a smooth transition and empower my team to handle things in my absence.
  • Evergreen Funnels:  We also set up evergreen sales funnels for my programs, allowing for passive income generation while I focus on my family. It’s been a game-changer, knowing that the business will continue to thrive even when I’m not actively working.
  • Content Batching: Knowing the importance of maintaining a consistent online presence, I batched content creation for my podcast, repurposing it across multiple platforms. This approach ensured a steady flow of valuable content even in my absence, keeping my audience engaged and informed.
  • Prioritizing Boundaries: And finally, I learned the importance of setting boundaries and saying no to non-essential commitments. It’s been tough at times, but prioritizing my well-being and family has been absolutely worth it.

Setting the Foundation For Success

As I prepare to embark on this new chapter of motherhood, I’m filled with gratitude for the opportunity to step away from the business and fully immerse myself in the joys of parenthood. It’s a bittersweet feeling, but I know that the foundation we’ve laid will ensure that the business continues to thrive in my absence.

Remember, investing in yourself and your well-being is not only essential but also conducive to long-term success and fulfillment. Thank you for joining me on this journey—I can’t wait to share more updates with you soon!
