How to Use Data to Grow Your TPT Store

Have youever opened your Teachers Pay Teachers dashboard, stared at all the numbers, and thought… what am I actually supposed to do with this?

Most sellers know they should be using data to grow their store, but the reality is that TPT doesn’t make it easy to understand what’s working, what’s not, or what to fix next. And when you’re already balancing teaching, life, and creating resources, the last thing you need is more confusion.

That’s exactly why I wanted to dive into this conversation with Jarrett from Your Data Playbook because once you understand how your data actually connects to sales, everything starts to click and come together.

The Real Reason Your TPT Store Isn’t Growing

Most TPT sellers think the problem is their products, but more often than not, it’s not the product – it’s where things are breaking down in the customer journey.

Every single buyer goes through a simple path before purchasing: They have to find your product, click on it, explore it, and then feel confident enough to buy.

If something goes wrong in any one of those steps, you lose the sale. The challenge is that TPT doesn’t clearly show you where that drop-off is happening.

So instead, sellers start doing random fixes, such as changing covers, lowering prices, rewriting descriptions without actually knowing if those changes are making a difference.

The Three Data Points That Actually Matter

If you’re trying to grow your store, there are really only three things you need to focus on:

Traffic, conversion, and price.

  1. Traffic is simply whether people are finding your product at all. If your listings aren’t showing up in search results, nothing else matters. You could have the best resource on TPT, but if no one sees it, it won’t sell.
  2. Conversion is what happens after someone clicks. Are your covers, previews, and descriptions convincing enough to turn that visitor into a buyer? This is where most sellers lose sales without realizing it.
  3. Price is the final lever. Even small pricing adjustments can significantly impact your revenue, but many sellers are hesitant to test this.

When you understand these three areas, you can start making intentional decisions instead of throwing things at the wall and hoping something sticks.

Why Most TPT Sellers Struggle With Data

Here’s the truth: it’s not that teachers can’t understand data, but TPT presents it in a way that makes it hard to use.

You can see page views. You can see sales. But you can’t easily connect the dots between them.

You can’t clearly tell:

  • Is my product not getting found?
  • Is my cover not getting clicks?
  • Is my preview not converting?

And when you don’t know the answer to those questions, you end up wasting time fixing the wrong things.

A Smarter Way to Use Your TPT Data

Instead of trying to manually figure all of this out, tools like Your Data Playbook were created to simplify the process.

What makes it different is that it doesn’t just show you numbers – it actually tells you what to do with them.

Rather than digging through your dashboard trying to interpret everything yourself, you’re given clear, actionable insights like which products need better titles, which ones aren’t converting well, or where pricing changes could increase revenue.

One of the most helpful features is the ability to track whether changes actually work because let’s be honest – making updates is one thing, but knowing if they made you more money? That’s what really matters.

If You’re Not Ready to Commit, Start Here

Ready to Stop Guessing and Start Growing Your TPT Store?

When you understand your data, you stop second-guessing every decision. You know what to fix, what to keep, and where your time will actually make a difference. That’s when your store starts to feel less overwhelming and a lot more strategic.

If you’re ready to take that next step and build a store that generates consistent income, I walk you through the exact framework inside my free training. It’s the same approach I used to grow my own store and what thousands of teachers are using to create real momentum.
