Selling Your TPT Resources on Squarespace: What You Need to Know Before You Start

If you’ve been growing your Teachers Pay Teachers store and you’re starting to think about expanding, you may be wondering whether selling your TPT resources on Squarespace is the right next step.

The truth is, moving your products to your own website can give you more control, more freedom, and more long-term income – if you set it up strategically.

I sat down to talk with my friend Katie Lepore, founder of Emberlyn Co., a Squarespace web designer who helps women build beautiful, strategic websites that actually convert. She shared how Squarespace can help teachers take their businesses to the next level without needing a background in technology.

Talking with Katie really opened my eyes to how much flexibility and freedom a platform like Squarespace gives TPT sellers. And it’s exactly why we want to share how to sell your TPT resources on your own website in a way that’s simple, strategic, and built to grow with you.

Start Selling on Teachers Pay Teachers First

Katie and I both agree: you should start selling on TPT first. It’s the perfect place to test your ideas, learn what sells, and start earning money without big upfront costs.

Once you’ve been selling for a few months and your resources are doing well, that’s when building your own website could make sense.

Why Squarespace Is a Great Website Choice for TPT Sellers

If you’ve ever tried building a website on WordPress, you know it can feel overwhelming – constant updates, confusing plugins, and expensive maintenance.

Squarespace, on the other hand, is an all-in-one platform. You can:

  • Build your website with simple drag-and-drop tools
  • Add a blog, store, or email list in minutes
  • Get real customer support when you need it

It’s easy enough for teachers to manage on their own and powerful enough to grow with your business.

What About SEO for TPT Resources?

One of the biggest myths is that WordPress is automatically better for SEO.

Spoiler alert… It’s not.

Google doesn’t care what platform your site is on. It cares about your content, how fast your site loads, whether your images are optimized, how well your pages are structured, and whether your keywords match what people are searching for.

Squarespace gives you everything you need to do that. You can set SEO titles and descriptions, adjust headings, add alt text to images, and even blog right inside the platform. As long as you’re writing clear, helpful content and updating your site regularly, you can rank just as well on Squarespace as you can on WordPress.

Is Blogging Still Worth It?

Yes, blogging is worth it!

Search engines love fresh content, and a blog is one of the best ways to keep your site updated. When you blog, you’re helping Google understand what your website is about while giving potential buyers more reasons to trust and connect with you.

And you don’t need to reinvent the wheel. If you’re already creating content – podcast episodes, YouTube videos, or even long Instagram posts – you can turn those into blog posts. From there, it’s easy to repurpose your writing into smaller pieces of content for your email list or social media.

Your blog doesn’t have to be complicated. It just needs to be consistent.

Selling Your TPT Resources on Squarespace

Squarespace lets you sell digital products directly from your site – meaning you can list your TPT resources and keep the profits for yourself. Setting it up is simple. Once you turn on the store feature, you just connect your payment info, upload your product files, and add your images, titles, and descriptions.

You can organize your resources into categories so visitors can easily find what they need – like “Reading Activities,” “6th Grade Math,” or “Test Prep.” When a buyer purchases a resource, Squarespace automatically emails them a download link. You don’t have to do a thing.

And here’s a bonus: if you use Pinterest, linking to your own website instead of TPT can actually help you get more traffic. Pinterest favors original domains, so pins from your own site perform better and reach more people!

Should You DIY or Hire a Designer for Your Squarespace Website?

Squarespace makes DIY possible, but that doesn’t always mean it’s the best choice.

Katie, a professional Squarespace website designer, sees it all the time – teachers spend weeks or months trying to perfect their site, but they’re never fully happy with it. Or they’re too embarrassed to share it because it doesn’t look professional.

A designer can save you time and frustration. Katie brings a marketing background to every site she builds, so she doesn’t just make it look good – she makes sure it works. Her two-week “Signature Site” package gives clients a polished, strategic five-page website built from scratch, with quick turnaround and zero tech stress.

Is Squarespace Right for You?

If you’re already selling on TPT and want to expand your income without adding more stress, Squarespace is a great next step. It’s simple, affordable, and gives you full control over your brand, shop, and content.

You can start small, DIY your first version, or hire someone like Katie to help you build something strategic from the start. Either way, your website becomes another stream of income that you fully own.And if you’re not quite there yet, I’ve got a free training that walks you through exactly how to set up your store, create resources that sell, and start earning consistent income (even with limited time).
