6 Reasons You Should Use Facebook Ads for Leads

What are Facebook ads?

 Facebook ads are paid advertisement for your business using Facebook’s algorithm and data. These ads will be shown on Facebook and Instagram (because Facebook owns Instagram).

There are multiple types of Facebook ads a business can use including a leads campaign (to get people onto your email list), a purchase campaign (to get people to buy your product or service), a reach campaign (a way to get new eyes on your business), and more. 

Facebook ads shouldn’t replace organic marketing (blogging, podcasting, social media, etc.), but they can be a great addition to your marketing strategy! 

Why you should be using them:

1. More reach than organic marketing (potentially)

Organic marketing can only go so far. If you have a small social media following, a low website visitor count, or are just starting with podcasting, you won’t reach many people. And there’s nothing wrong with that!

Organic marketing is very valuable, and it takes time. 

Facebook ads, however, can help you reach more people in a shorter amount of time. They can be a great addition to your organic marketing, but remember: they shouldn’t replace your organic marketing!

2. Faster than organic

Organic marketing takes a lot of time and consistent effort. For example, to really grow on social media (the right way), you need to consistency post valuable content (usually daily). 

To grow with a blog, even with the best SEO strategies, it can take a few months.

Facebook ads (if you know how to use them), can build you audience in a matter of days or weeks.

3. Target website visitors

One of the best things about Facebook ads is the ability to target specific people. If you have the Facebook pixel installed on your website, it will track people who visit your website.

This could include blog posts, sales pages (as long as they are on the same domain), checkout pages, and more. 

You can find people who visited a recent blog post you wrote, and show them an ad related to that blog post. 

You can also target people who visited your checkout page but didn’t purchase. These are super warm leads, and a Facebook ad might be what they need to complete the purchase.

4. Target people who interact with your Instagram

Facebook owns Instagram, so they can track people who engage with your Instagram account. If you launched a product on Instagram last week, you can target people who interacted with your posts over the last 7 days.

They will see these ads on Instagram, and you will stay top of mind (and help them make the decision to purchase).

5. Find people based on their interests, hobbies, page likes, etc.

Another way to make sure you’re showing your ads to your ideal customer is targeting based on interests. You can find people who have “liked” certain topics within your niche.

For example, if your niche is herb gardening, you can find people who have liked herb gardening on Facebook.

You can also find people who have liked specific pages. If your niche is teaching guitar, you can target people who liked Jimi Hendrix or Fender Guitars.

6. Filter people by demographics

If your niche is job-specific or age-specific, you can also filter people by their demographics.

You can filter people by age, job, life events, location, gender, education, and more.

So, if your niche is helping high school math teachers (this was actually my first niche over at LindsayBowden.com), you can find people who have “math teacher” in their job title. 

If your niche is helping new college graduates find a job, you can filter by ages 22-25. You can even filter by people who have attended or graduated college.

When to start using FB ads

The potential with Facebook ads are pretty unlimited! 

But…Facebook ads cost money (obviously haha), so you may not want to jump into them in the beginning!

I would wait until:

1. You have a clear niche and understanding of how you help people. 

2. You can commit to at least $5/day to ads.

3. You’ve invested in some Facebook ads training. I love Laurel Portie’s $7/month Facebook training.
